History: Dr. Hank McCoy, also known as Beast is a mutant and one of the original members of the X-Men. He has been with the team throughout its history. He has extensive knowledge in chemistry and biology, whose own research was used to nearly destroy mutantkind.
He became one of Charles Xavier’s original X-Men and helped them make the world safer for humans, acting as their doctor. He helped to create the Danger Room, the X-Men's training room. Initially, his physical mutation was enlarged hands and feet.
McCoy hated being a mutant. Because of this, he left the X-Men and got a job working for Herbert Landon at the Brand Corporation. McCoy used the resources at the Brand Corporation to develop a serum that was intended to cure him of his mutation and turn him into normal human. However, the chemical instead accelerated McCoy's mutation and he grew blue fur all over his body.
Over time, Hank accepted his mutation and even said that he now enjoyed being a mutant, and that being a mutant brought great joy to his life.
Beast is a genius and is normally very kind. Although he can fight like the most violent of fiends, he is very gentle and enjoys a good poem. He has knowledge of most 16th century liturature. He can be found quoting Shakespeare, reading works such as Animal Farm and Dostoevsky, and collecting the magazine Philology Quarterly.
Equipment: The Beast possesses a fully-equipped laboratory in Xavier's mansion. Presumably it holds the latest in biological and material analysis devices.
Powers: Beast's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. While in his simian form, he has the agility of a great ape combined with the acrobatic prowess of an Olympic level gymnast. He can walk on a tightrope or a slack rope as easily as most people can walk on a sidewalk. He can also walk on his hands for many hours, or perform a complicated sequence of gymnastic stunts such as flips, rolls, and springs. Beast can also hang upside down by wrapping his toes around pipes of fans on a ceiling.
Beast possesses a limited degree of super strength and he also sports 3 inch razor sharp claws at the tip of each finger and toe. Their natural edges, coupled with his strength, are sufficient to tear most conventional materials including flesh, wood, stone, and even metal effortlessly and enable him to climb up vertical surfaces by wedging his fingers and toes into the smallest of cracks.
Skills: Genius Intelligence, Excellent Hand-to-Hand Combatant, Multilingual, Expert Tactician, Indomitable Will
Weaknesses: Mortal. Despite his kind-hearted, friendly nature, Beast tends to be quite secretive about his real feelings. His past hatred of his own mutancy makes him feel shame and feels that his current appearance is a fitting punishment for his past actions.
Trivia (optional):
-As a human, he was 6'4" tall. As Beast, he stands at 5'11" (though he seems shorter due to standing with his knees slightly bent).
