History: Not much is known about him, save that his primary occupation is that of a general. In this capacity, he has served both Shinnok and Shao Kahn. He has also served as a member of the Brotherhood of Shadow. During Shinnok's war against the Elder Gods, he was presumed killed. He later resurfaced during the time of Mortal Kombat 4, but after Shinnok was defeated, he disappeared once again. He later emerged in Shao Kahn's army.'
Many ages ago, Reiko and his army conquered a backward little kingdom belonging to the Kreeyans in Shao Kahn's name. As per his victory custom, Reiko desecrated the holy temple of his defeated foes as a means of dominating their spirits as well as their cities. But Reiko noticed that one goddess statue would not crack or fall, and instead she sang a prophecy to him, a single phrase over and over again: "Reiko's blood reigns".
When Reiko returned to Shao Kahn, the emperor hailed him as his most ruthless general and adopted him, molding him into his heir apparent, leading Reiko to believe the prophecy would come true. In the distant past, Reiko joined with Goro and Shao Kahn in their conquest of the Arnyek Islands that hosted the Kytinn species. Reiko would work with the Osh-Tekk warrior Kotal on many missions, learning of his species reliance on the sun for power, as well as their weakness when deprived of its light.
After Kotal Kahn usurped the throne, Reiko chose to ally himself with Mileena's rebel faction. Through seduction, he became her closest adviser and lover, all the while manipulating Mileena for his own ends. Using Blood magic to empower him, he sought to send Mileena and Kotal aginst each other so that he could come in and pick off all rivals and claim the throne of Outworld for himself.
And for his troubles he was struck down by Mileena, weidling Shao Khan's Wrath Hammer, though Ermac notes the Blood Code will soon restore him to life.
Reiko is revived by the Blood Code, his destroyed face slowly regenerating. Becoming enraged at Kotal Kahn and Mileena's casual discussion of killing him again, he lashes out with blasts of Blood Magik, before easily escaping Ermac's telekinetic hold on him, all the while ranting that he was novitiate for the Blood God and the vessel through which his blood would reign. Using blinding speed, Reiko snatches Ermac by the ankle and throws him at Kotal Kahn and Mileena, making short work of one of Shao Kahn's most powerful creations.
Drawing Outworld's Kamidogu, Reiko mocked Kotal Kahn for losing it and never exploiting its potential by cutting him with his own lost weapon, and cut Mileena with it as well. Telling both he could enslave them to his will, he chose not to, wanting them to witness his rebirth as the Blood God before revealing how he learned of the prophecy that promised his ascension. Declaring that the prophecy would be fulfilled at last, Reiko suddenly found himself attacked all at once by Ermac, Mileena, and Kotal Kahn, with the construct telekinetically tearing his head off, Mileena disemboweling him with her sai, and Kotal cutting his legs off with his solar inflamed sword.
But Reiko would reform and use the Kamidogu of the realms to transform into a God like being, feeding off of the blood of Outworld Prisoners to fuel himself, until pain struck. It was then that his former Master, Quan Chi appeared, and plucked the Amulet of Shinnok from his head after telling him he was merely another pawn. Thus Reiko's first life ended.
But this was not his end.
For he awoke from the Flesh pits, revived...at the feet of his 'father'...and Mileena. He was revived as Kahn wished to hear his side. Part of him was impressed by his guile and cunning, but angry that he dared betray what he had built. Reiko made no excuses. He told the tale true and in the end, said he'd do it again. Kahn then struck him a few times, telling him that was his due for what he had done....but he would be brought back into the fold. No longer having the power of a God, a more humbled Reiko now reclaimed his spot as General.
Equipment: He wields His Crude Hammer mostly, a weapon made int he form of Shao Kahn's Wrath Hammer, but he has been known to pull out his scythe from the Brotherhood of Shadow, as well as his Spiked Club, which he used to subdue restless oni while in the Netherrealm. He also uses Shuriken.
Powers: Reiko is a powerful fighter, skilled in the use of shuriken and while originally depicted as favoring dodges and various teleports. He also learned of a variation of Shao Kahn's shoulder charge (his magical aura even covering his head with a construct of Kahn's helmet as he does it) and was shown to be strong enough to wield the Crude Hammer with ease.
His abilities are as follows:
Quick Spin Behind: Reiko does a quick top-like spin and slides around the opponent to their back in one quick motion.
Vertical Teleport: Reiko leaps upwards disappearing in the air, then reappears behind the opponent coming up through the ground. This attack was taught to him fromt he Brotherhood of Shadow. Reiko can forego the slam & instead attack the opponent normally when he comes up.
Shadow Grab: While performing the Vertical Teleport, Reiko grabs and slams the opponent to the ground upon reappearing behind them.
Flip Kick: Reiko twists his body in an impossible fashion, landing a backflip kick with one foot without his opposite foot even leaving the ground.
Charging Pain: Reiko performs a shoulder ram like that of Shao Kahn's, but with a bluish energy representation of Shao Kahn's helmet covering his head.
Throw: Reiko lifts his foe up & power bombs them into the floor while shouting random gibberish. If performed too close to a wall, Reiko will instead whipslam his foe to the ground.
Shoulder Break: Reiko turns his foe around & quickly wrenches both of their arms upward in reverse. His foe can be attacked before they are able to turn back around.
Flipping Strikes: Reiko grabs his opponent and smashes them against the ground with his fist, causing them to bounce up into the air. Reiko follows up the attack with a flipping soccer-esque kick to their backside, sending them headfirst back onto the ground.
Thrust Kick: Reiko delivers a mighty kick to the opponent's torso which causes it to fly straight off as the arms and head are left spinning in midair. The legs crumple to the ground, with the arms and head landing on the ground one-by-one moments later.
Shuriken Barrage: Reiko throws a deadly multitude of shurikens at the opponent, covering the entire body before throwing the last one to the head. The opponent then collapses and dies in a puddle of their own blood.
Skills: Reiko's brilliant tactical mind is quite dangerous, showing his capacity to form strategies to lure opponents to their deaths or expose weaknesses he can exploit. Reiko was also shown to be strong enough to dominate Jax Briggs in a one-on-one battle.
Reiko was trained the the fighting style of the Brotherhood of Shadow, making him skilled in the art of stealth and assassination, as well as learing to emulate the moves of Shao Khahn himself. He also studied Ying Yeung.
Weaknesses: Reiko's lust for power sometimes affects his judgment. Also...he can't seem to stop sneaking into Kahn's chamber and wearing his mask.
Trivia:
- I did adapt a variation of the events of MKX, omitting Havik in case anyone who apps him doesn't want to go that route.
